A journey ahead

“I need companions, living ones, not dead companions and corpses which I carry with me wherever I wish.” – Friedrich Nietzsche (German Philosopher).

Today it seems to be fashionable for supply companies to be classified as partners —travel companions— of their clients. Nevertheless, the term “partner” can bring about confusion, as the way a supply company goes about things may not align with what one would expect of a travel companion.

That's where a philosophic question arises in terms of the difference between being a supplier and being a partner. Perhaps the provider is the antithesis of the partner, as there is a fundamental difference between the two: the type of relationship established with the client.

A provider will focus on supplying a service under the terms of a contract. Obviously, the client must trust the provider and should expect to receive the provider’s products or services with the agreed quality, in the agreed timeframes, and at the agreed price. However, there are certain moments that call for service that goes beyond all that due to their unique characteristics. The figure of the PARTNER includes everything mentioned above and goes a step further: involvement.

The partner is someone who will add value to the literal words of a contract. A partner wishes to contribute with ideas, experience, guidance, and –above all– a partner makes an effort to understand the needs of the client and provide solutions that allow companies to be better. The very meaning of this word implies that partners are two entities that cooperate to achieve a common goal.

In the specific case of professional driver training, it seems to be clear that having a true partner can be critical when selecting technological tools such as simulators. At stake is transportation safety, at stake is profitability.... the prestige of companies. In this case, it is not of much use to look for products on the market; instead, efforts must be focused on choosing the right company, a company that knows how to accompany the client on that journey towards that common goal. A company on the move, with experience, that offers flexibility and knows how to capture the client's know-how to create just what is needed.

In addition, one cannot ignore the fact that changes are constant in this field. The incorporation of new vehicles, an increase in new drivers, possible changes of location, new scenarios that professionals must be trained for, the incorporation of new technologies, etc.  These are all basic aspects that any client will need to address at one point or another. When that time comes, if the client only has a provider, perhaps the quote by Nietzsche will end up becoming the truth.

That's why, here at LANDER, we decided to be PARTNERS from the very start. That is the basic premise around which we work firmly every day. We want that philosophy to shine through in the solutions that we create together with our clients, as well as in the close relationship that we establish with them – no matter where they may be.
