Lander delivers a new Locomotive simulator training center in Bangladesh

Lander has delivered a locomotive simulator training center to Bangladesh Railway. The simulator system consists of two locomotive replica cabins (broad gauge and meter gauge) on 6DOF motion platforms, one instructor station and an observation station. The system allows driving in 300Km of real Bangladesh track network, on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Khulna lines. The project included also the building to host the system, which has been built by Lander from scratch.

The training center, located beside the Kamalapur train station in Dhaka, was officially inaugurated last Thursday 24th October by the Minister Railways Mr. Nurul Islam Sujan and with the participation of the Director General of Bangladesh Railway Mr. Mohammad Shamsuzzaman, the CEO of Lander Mr. Jose Montero and the project teams of both Bangladesh Railway and Lander Simulation. As a special guest, the Ambassador of Spain in Bangladesh Mr. Álvaro de Salas took part in the inauguration ceremony.

Bangladesh Railway is investing in the acquisition of new trains and in the modernization of its infrastructure. The operator is currently experiencing a shortage of drivers and it needs to recruit new staff. The simulator system is crucial for the training of new loco masters and it will also be used to train current drivers to increase their skills with a view to improve the safety of the passengers.

With the successful completion of this challenging project, we take a step forward in our expansion in Asia. This project is just one more example of Lander’s commitment to contribute to the improvement of the safety and efficiency of our clients’ operations.

Congratulations to Bangladesh Railway for the investment in this technology.
