LANDER WAS CREATED IN 2002 AS AN INITIATIVE OF THE CENTRE FOR STUDIES AND TECHNICAL RESEARCH OF GUIPUZCOA (CEIT) AND OF CAF, CONSTRUCCIONES Y AUXILIAR DE FERROCARRILES.
CEIT provides its extensive knowledge on the use of technology, the result of years of investment in R&D; CAF supplies its international leadership and know-how in the fields of design, manufacturing, maintenance, and the supply of equipment and components for railway systems. This combination resulted in the foundation of Lander, whose aim is to provide the simulating training market with answers.
At that time, the two main shareholders were CAF as the majority shareholder and CEIT as its technological partner. At a later stage, the ESM Institute for Research into Safety and Human Factors joined the project, as an expert partner in the training plan.

CAF’s contribution permits Lander’s technical staff to develop railway simulators in direct contact with the manufacturers of the units themselves, thus maximising the flow of information and experience, and exchanging development tasks in order to create simulators with maximum levels of accuracy with respect to the machine itself.
Thanks to CAF’s participation, Lander has the capacity-building and resources necessary to develop any sized project as well as in-depth knowledge of the rail sector and the units requiring simulation.

The second important contributor to Lander's development team is its technological partner, the Studies and Technical Research Centre of Guipuzcoa (CEIT).
The close collaboration between Lander and CEIT allows us not only to be up to date with the latest technological advances arising in the field of simulation, but also to take the initiative in these advances through intense dedication to R&D geared towards the continuous improvement of technologies and resources used in our training systems.
In this way, we can guarantee that the technology used in each training system is the most cutting-edge available, thus it does not just provide a product of greater quality but it also avoids early obsolescence.

The third pillar of the Lander philosophy in the field of simulation is the direct approach towards the educational or training component of the simulation system.
In our minds, a simulator that does not take training into account as a basic element in its development is inconceivable. This, added to Lander’s vocation and dedication to customer service, results in a simulator which covers a bespoke training plan for each customer. This is possible thanks to the work undertaken by our third business partner, the Institute for Research into Safety and Human Factors (ESM).
