OUARGLA, the first Desert Tram

The Ouargla tram in Algeria was inaugurated on 20 March among great expectation. It is the first desert tram and joins the existing ones in the Algerian cities of Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Sidi Bel Abbès. This list of cities will soon be joined by Sétif and Mostaganem. Seven cities will have this mode of transport in Algeria.

From here, we would particularly like to congratulate SETRAM, the operator of all the country’s lines, for this new milestone.

Along with the new operation, SETRAM, Société d’Exploitation des Tramways, which emerged from a agreement between the EMA and French group RATP, has recently awarded a contract to LANDER to equip its training centre, which will include 4 tram simulators that will travel along a virtual line that represents the most emblematic and representative locations of the different lines in fine detail.

This is an ambitious project for LANDER due to the several novelties it involves, as a result of the experience of the RATP group in simulation, and the clear vision of training and of the future that SETRAM has.

LANDER’s simulators will make it possible to train all the country's tram drivers using the most cutting-edge technology, so that they can develop the abilities and skills necessary to raise safety and service to the levels expected by SETRAM.

We are grateful for the trust they have placed in LANDER and to begin with, we hope they have the best experience with us during this equipment development stage.
