The insurance company, Proteccion Mutual de Seguros del Transport Publico, has committed to the training of its policy holders from the start. In fact, it is the only insurance company in Argentina to have an Accident Prevention department, aimed at studying, designing and implementing prevention polices for public passenger transport companies. Its commitment to provide policy holders with training has the final objective of reducing accidents and, with that, reducing compensations, improving the company’s social and commercial image and increasing the availability of vehicles because accidents are reduced and therefore so is the number of units being repaired etc.
In the year 2009, within the framework of the Bus Store programme, and having decided to take a step forward in the training of drivers, Protección Mutual decided to embark on the task of acquiring a high level driving simulator to complement the training plans they had for their policy holders. With its participation in the Bus Store programme, Lander forms an active part of the effort that Proteccion Mutual is making to reduce accidents and prevent risks. The Bus Store programme is a training programme that is applied to the different levels of management of a passenger transport company. Lander is currently putting the finishing touches to the development of the simulator for Proteccion Mutual. The implementation date is expected to be at the beginning of 2011.
With this acquisition Proteccion Mutual wants to bring new technologies closer to its policy holders, selecting, designing and installing a simulator which is capable of reproducing the most common risk situations in Argentina, and which are the cause of the majority of the accidents.

Examples of training activities developed in the programme: Safety audits at companies, road safety training, help with staff recruitment processes, accident investigations, psychological support after accidents, staff training, etc.
The Bus Score programme offers two types of clearly differentiated benefits: reduction in number of accidents and discounts in the price of insurance for companies registered in the programme.

There they create, coordinate and supervise diverse programmes that include capacity-building and assessment of the drivers and of middle management, the design of prevention practices specific to the transport companies, the design of roadmaps and accident maps, as well as activities aimed at reducing the number of accidents.
