Almost 10,000 km travelled by ANTP truck simulator impacts 1,400 people in Mexico

1,400 people from the cargo transport sector have been trained over the last year within the TrackSIM programme, an initiative created by the ANTP (National Association of Private Transport) of Mexico and by MAF & ASOCIADOS, the company responsible for executing the simulator training programmes.

The TrackSIM programme seeks to actively promote the issue of road safety with the aim that its principles are never forgotten within society as a whole (both in civil society and in the worlds of business and politics), so that politicians draw up good traffic regulations and know how to communicate them effectively to society, and so that, when they are driving, citizens are able to identify vehicle breakdowns early, respect speed limits, maintain a safe distance, anticipate errors that other vehicles may make, wear a seat belt and rest for at least 45 minutes after 4 and a half hours of driving. And there is also a specific measure focused on professional drivers, whether they are experienced or novice drivers, which involves receiving the appropriate training and updating their knowledge periodically in a state-of-the-art simulator.

The idea of the TrackSIM programme is that each individual that makes up society, when making decisions on the road or off it, has the principles of road safety fresh in their minds, so that they make the correct decisions: when a driver chooses whether to respect the established speed limit or step on the accelerator to get home earlier; when a businessman in the “transportation” sector decides whether to invest in the training of his drivers or invest in something else; or when, at the political level, decisions are made relating to the laws that promote road safety and awareness programmes, etc. In all these cases, making a good or bad decision depends on the level of education, awareness and culture that each individual has regarding road safety. The TrackSIM programme is intended to have an impact in precisely this area.

Another of the outstanding aspects of the TrackSIM programme is its mobility and flexibility, which is achieved by having installed the simulator inside a 40-foot container that can be transported throughout the country: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Querétaro, Veracruz, Yucatán, Puebla and Quintana Roo are the 10 places where various training programmes have taken place so far for prominent companies that transport cargo such as Cemex, Almex, Arca Continental, Grupo Modelo and the National Guard/Sedena.

In 2022, the simulator almost literally “burned rubber”, travelling a total of more than 9,900 km throughout Mexico, while in 2023 the idea is to keep the foot down on the accelerator and break all the records. Stay tuned because we will continue to bring you the latest news about the TrackSIM programme!
