GVB takes a further step in its pursuit of excellence

The tram division of GVB (the municipal public transport operator in Amsterdam) has decided to advance further in its quest to provide an excellent service by acquiring a tram simulation system for its driver training programme. We have been working for some months now on the development of this project, which has the goal of designing a training tool that will enable all of the company’s drivers to receive training.

A city like Amsterdam has to face up to some significant challenges. A growing volume of passengers, complex architecture, a fleet currently being renewed and an extremely high proportion of tourists using the service, among many others. To tackle all these challenges, the company is constantly working on innovative projects that can enable it to get closer to passengers and respond to what they require from the service. A clear example of the company’s innovative nature is the recent project undertaken, whereby on-board customer service counters were introduced on its trams. This pilot project, unique in the world, allows a more accessible service to be offered to passengers and, at the same time, facilitates the communication of their concerns so that GVB can adapt its service to user needs.

We are proud to be able to learn from an operator like GVB and be in a position to develop a training equipment that will enable them to grow and enhance the service they provide.
