LANDER present at the 2016 Alamys Annual Conference

This year we went to Santiago to once again attend the annual conference organised by the Latin American Association of Metros and Subways (ALAMYS). This was a special occasion, as it marked the 30th anniversary of the assembly.

Today the great challenge for Latin American mobility is the integration of multi-modal transportation systems, so that it is possible to combine bus and metro and other adjacent systems. Without such integration transfers will be slower and inefficient, also making it impossible to achieve priority goals such as sustainability in transport. Based on real calculations, it has been clearly demonstrated that transporting 1,300 people requires either 930 cars or the better option of 33 buses or, even better, a single train.

During the conference, our Chilean host, Metro De Santiago, was keen to make a special mention of the new lines 3 and 6, which provide an expansion of the network by a total of 37 kilometres, representing a 40% increase in the size of the current network. And it is precisely for this new extension that Lander Simulation installed the last driverless simulator developed for Metro De Santiago. With this equipment, the future drivers for both lines can be trained in advance so that they will be capable of handling all the intervention situations that may arise during operation.

We would like to thank the ALAMYS organisation yet again this year and also each and every one of the attendees, who we hope to see soon and meet again next year here in Spain. We’ll stay in touch!
