The Bangkok monorail can now start training its drivers in the simulator

As of last week, BTSC now has a new simulation system for the training of its drivers on the Yellow and Pink lines of the Bangkok Monorail.

The commissioning of these lines is expected to relieve the congested streets of the Thai capital, especially in the east and north of the city. But any type of operation of this magnitude requires the proper training of staff – and drivers are no exception. Thanks to the simulator, BTSC will be able to wrap up the training of its drivers before the works on the lines and infrastructure are completed.

To accomplish this, LANDER simulated the behaviour of the Innovia Monorail 300, whose first vehicle was delivered by Bombardier late last year. Additionally, as it is not possible to represent a piece of infrastructure that has not yet been completed, the simulator has a built-in alternative route with similar features and characteristics that will allow the training plan to be started. Once the construction works for the lines themselves have finalised, an update will be carried out on the simulator to incorporate the real lines so that the true conditions are exactly replicated for BTSC.

This solution is one more example of the possibilities offered by simulators in training drivers for new operations, and of the importance of carrying out good planning like BTSC. This will allow them to have a training tool that guarantees safety in operations from the very start.

This is the second time that BTSC has trusted LANDER to develop a simulations system, after the installation of a system two years ago which is used by the BTS Skytrain drivers of Bangkok. We at LANDER would like to thank them once again for their trust in us. We will continue to work closely with them.
