The CENACAF simulation equipment fully operational

The CENACAF completes its simulation equipment capabilities with the incorporation of a completely renovated fleet of passenger trains.

In 2015, the CENACAF, the governing body for the Argentine railways, responsible for planning, design of activities, training programmes and the training of human resources, inaugurated the first phase of its innovative training centre. The centre was created to provide a solution to two fundamental requirements: to comply with a ministerial order and to allow the implementation of the collective agreements for the training of drivers.

These start-of-the-art facilities not only offer the possibility of training a large number of students in a shorter time, but also have a double objective: to train drivers on both new and old trains, and also to comply with government regulations, covered by

an Argentinian ministerial order, which require drivers to carry out a series of practical training exercises in the simulator.

The equipment consists of three replica cabin simulators and seven simplified stations. Among other trains, it simulates the new trains that Argentina has bought from the Chinese company CRRC, as part of its plan for the complete renovation of trains.

This development gives legal cover to the training of drivers in Argentina and has been carried out in partnership with La Fraternidad, the train drivers trade union. This cooperation of all the bodies involved has resulted in more than 1,800 drivers receiving training in the simulators to date; a resounding success for the rail industry of Argentina, which undoubtedly means an improvement in the safety and welfare of the passengers.
