Donostia-San Sebastian, the European Capital of Culture 2016, bids farewell to a successful year

2016 is coming to an end and at LANDER we would like to thank all our customers and colleagues for the experiences that we have shared throughout these months.

LANDER would also like to bid farewell, along with this year 2016, to the city of San Sebastian as the European Capital of Culture 2016.

Although it was not a primary goal of the Capital of Culture project, San Sebastian 2016 has been a huge success in terms of promoting the city, which has been accompanied by a very significant investment in the creative fabric of the region.

The project “Culture for living together” was conceived not only to promote a culture of coexistence in San Sebastian and its surrounding region, but also to be a reference for Europe.

Tens of thousands of people have participated throughout the year in this collective project in many ways, from the simple role of spectators of screenings or concerts to a deeper involvement in a wide variety of ways: proposing and carrying out or choosing cultural projects, or developing associations and business projects, among others.

The city's Mayor has shown his satisfaction and has pointed out that DSS2016 has managed to meet the commitment it acquired with Europe, and it has done so with the participation of the public and of the Basque Country's cultural agents. In addition, institutions and companies agree that the capital of culture project will continue to have an impact on the city in coming years.

At LANDER we are delighted and thankful for the chance we have had to showcase such a marvellous city to the rest of the world.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
