Evolution of the driving simulators at Euskotren to adapt to the growth of the operation

Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Basque Country’s capital, is a European benchmark thanks to its commitment during decades to be a Green City. Among its achievements it can boast of offering a modern, sustainable and accessible public transport system. The city is also the destination for thousands of university students who, from all corners of the Basque geography and its surroundings, every year set off with excitement on the journey towards their professional future.

Last year, the Basque operator EUSKOTREN celebrated the opening of a new tram line in Álava's capital, which will bring the transport system from the city centre to the university area, something that will undoubtedly facilitate the mobility of all the students who go to lectures very day.

In addition, EUSKOTREN has added new trams with more capacity to the operation. These have seven cars, as opposed to the five they had until now, and a length of 44 metres, making it possible to increase the capacity from 270 to 400 passengers.

In view of this growth, LANDER has developed the complete simulation of the new tram line in Vitoria-Gasteiz and the above-mentioned new units made by CAF. This will enable it to continue training highly skilled drivers in order to carry out the operation safely and in a timely manner for passengers, allowing drivers to face any situation that may arise in reality beforehand in the simulators.

For many years the Basque operator has made a commitment to quality technological training at all levels. The results they have obtained support the advantages of including training as a relevant point within it strategic plan. At LANDER we are very proud of having been its strategic partner for approximately 15 years and we hope to continue providing all the novelties of simulation to a training network that already has 4 centres distributed throughout the region and 9 driving simulators.
