LANDER, committed each day to safety

Each year around 1.2 million people die in traffic accidents around the world.

This global problem means that public bodies, research centres and private companies, such as the vehicle manufacturers themselves and suppliers to the sector, are working each day to implement policies, raise awareness, design safer roads and develop safety systems designed to achieve the desired goal of 0 accidents.

The growing use and technological development of public transport is undoubtedly an aspect that can help improve these statistics considering that these modes of transport are safer.

This creates an important challenge for public transport operators, who more than ever have to take care of every detail to ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers using them.

In the EU at least, the bus continues to be the mode of transport chosen by the largest percentage of users, 9.2%, followed very closely by the train (7.7%). Every day thousands of buses take children to school, workers to their jobs, people to perform their daily tasks, as well as transporting tourists who are passing through. The bus is undoubtedly an economic and comfortable form of transport for many people. In addition, the entry of 0 emission vehicles makes it an increasingly popular solution for many.

The bus is considered one of the safest ways to travel both long and short distances. However, every year there are bus accidents that cause personal and property damage.

In the USA, for example, buses and trucks accounted for 11.9% of fatal accidents in 2015. With a total of 32,166 fatal accidents, 257 involved a bus, with 295 deaths. There were 14,000 bus accidents with injuries and 53,000 accidents that resulted in property damage.

According to Schneider & Palcsik, a US law firm specializing in accidents, inexperienced or older bus drivers significantly raise the risk of an accident. To this we can add distractions at the wheel due to the high use of mobile devices.

Undoubtedly, providing support to drivers so that they are properly trained and more aware is today a key element in ensuring the safety and improved comfort of passengers.

At LANDER we are proud to be able to contribute to improving these statistics. LANDER's team of engineers works painstakingly on driving simulators and new developments which, along with the expertise of the clients, will help to achieve 0 accidents.
