ETS is committed to advanced training with the installation of two CTC simulators developed by LANDER
Euskal Trenbide Sarea (ETS), the entity responsible for railway infrastructure in the Basque Country, has taken a significant step in its modernization strategy with the incorporation of two Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) simulators, designed and installed by LANDER Simulation & Training Solutions.
This initiative reflects ETS’s commitment to equipping itself with cutting-edge tools to enhance staff training and ensure safe, efficient railway operations that meet both current and future challenges.
The simulators have been installed at ETS’s training centers in Araso (Irún, Gipuzkoa) and Lebario (Bizkaia), and are capable of simulating operations across the entire Basque railway network, regardless of physical location. Each classroom is equipped with two training stations for traffic operators and one instructor station, faithfully replicating the environments and dynamics of real CTCs used to manage railway traffic throughout the region.
This project marks a turning point for LANDER, as it is the company’s first assignment focused exclusively on traffic control simulation, without the integration of driving simulators. The solution was custom-developed, drawing on experience from similar systems implemented in Singapore (SMRT) and Monterrey (Metrorrey), and tailored to the operational and organizational specifics of the Basque network.
From the outset, ETS and LANDER have worked with a shared vision: to develop an innovative, robust training solution aligned with the demands of the operational environment. The result is a comprehensive tool that enables training in both daily procedures and complex incident management, within a safe and controlled setting.
CTC simulation is thus positioned as a strategic tool to strengthen staff training and raise the standards of quality and safety in railway traffic management. LANDER has developed a platform that allows instructors to create customized sessions, analyze operator performance, and reproduce operational conditions with a high degree of realism.
With this project, ETS reaffirms its commitment to innovation and operational excellence by integrating state-of-the-art technology into its training processes. Meanwhile, LANDER consolidates its position as a leading company in railway simulation solutions, capable of designing specific systems that precisely meet the needs of each client.
