Tram simulators - SETRAM's technological partner in Algeria

It was just over two years ago that our lives changed. The world came to a screeching halt as the pandemic spread at a dizzying speed. Most of us were forced to transform the way we work, the way we organise ourselves, and even our meeting places. At meetings, we moved away from seeing each other in person to discussing the future through a computer screen. Gone were the commutes to the office, the coffee machine, the sound of phone calls, the paperwork, and the bustle of people in our workplace.

A few months before all this happened, we had the pleasure of supporting our partner SETRAM in setting up the first training centre with tram simulators at the Railway Training Institute in Algiers. At the time, nothing suggested that months later, the operator would find itself in a position to reshape its seamlessly crafted management plan to provide training for its more than seven facilities throughout the country (Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Sidi Bel Abbes, Ouargla, Mostaganem, and Sétif).

But this is how it happened. The inability to move drivers from the various locations and the high cost involved led the company to react quickly to this unexpected situation, making the decision to relocate the simulators and continue with its ambitious training plan.

To this end, the LANDER team has worked hand in hand with them to finish the new facilities and to return to training at the various centres in record time. Now, in addition to the Algiers Training Centre, SETRAM, an organisation born out of an agreement between the Algiers Metro Company (EMA) and the French group RATP Dev, there are three new training centres in Ouargla, Constantine, and Oran. To adapt to this new structure, the simulators manufactured by LANDER have been adapted to incorporate new instructor positions, among other elements.

Undoubtedly, the uncertainty and isolation we have experienced have brought us into a new era in which technology has become our best ally when it comes to moving business projects forward. It is therefore essential that as technology partners, the simulation equipment designed by LANDER has the necessary flexibility to adapt to the client's needs not only at the time of purchase, but also over time, whatever happens.
